Welcome to the Blog

One thing that I have always loved growing up is sports. From attending the 2016 Cubs World Series Game 3 versus Cleveland at Wrigley Field, watching Golden Knights games at T-Mobile Arena, and to cheering on the Ducks at Autzen Stadium, I will never get old of watching any sporting event. There’s nothing like being inside a packed stadium and having everyone rooting for the same team. But there is something thrilling about walking in on enemy territory and coming out with a win.

Growing up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, I was lucky to have not one or two, but seven professional sports teams in one city. It’s an amazing atmosphere to be a part of, and I knew wherever I went to school that those expectations needed to be met. When I was looking at coming to the University of Oregon, I already knew that on paper it met a lot of the criteria I wanted. I grew up coming to the west coast, so I was comfortable with traveling to this side of the country, it was far enough away from home but still close enough where I do have family nearby, and of course the huge sports scene. I wanted to be a part of a passionate fan base, and UO definitely has it. I have now transformed into the friend that adds a “sco ducks” to basically anything.

My love of sports stemmed from my dad taking me to games growing up. Anytime he had an extra ticket, he would take me. If we weren’t physically at the game, we would be at home watching it or texting about it. It has always been our thing and i’m so grateful that we got to attend already so many events together. With my family in the process of moving to Las Vegas, I am getting immersed into their smaller and newer sports world. I love getting exposure into different environments and learning about new teams, but there really is nothing like the Chicago sports scene.

As much as I would love to sit here and write about the different plays of a game or the trades that happen during the offseason, that isn’t what I’m going to be writing about. In this blog, I am going to be analyzing different parts of the sports world in a public relations lens. From different games or events all the way to the athletes themselves, nothing is off limits. I’m here to take my love of sports and apply it in another light that even the most die-hard fan will enjoy.

Hopefully you guys will stick around and stay tuned for future posts about sports from a public relations lens. Oh, and as always, sco ducks.
